Dental implants are the most effective way of replacing teeth lost through trauma or decay, while preventing loss of jaw bone. Gaps in your dental arch can impair your bite, are not cosmetically pleasing and can result in gradual loss of bone from the jaw around the empty tooth socket with consequent sagging or “falling in” of your cheek.
A dental implant consists of a titanium metal post which is surgically inserted into the gum and bone of your upper or lower mouth. The implant is then “restored” by placing a crown on it to replace the missing tooth.
